Writers’ comments on the 2016 Opole Book Festival

One could read about the 2016 Opole Book Festival not only in the press, but also on the social network profiles of the festival guests. Positive comments were published by the queen of Polish crime stories, Katarzyna Bonda, and Remigiusz Mróz. Katarzyna Grochola did not hide her amazement, either.

A well-known Polish writer and journalist, one of many festival star guests, Katarzyna Grochola, was delighted. “Opole is beautiful. I found a bridge with padlocks with various poems attached to them (…) I entered a crowd of people who were motivated to come to some festival about some books, meet some people, instead of sitting on the grass and drinking beer. That’s why I love Opole!”

Opole, in turn, loves not only Katarzyna Grochola. The numerous meetings with authors attracted crowds from morning till evening. The prelude to the festival attractions was the Thursday meeting with Krystyna Czubówna. On Friday and Saturday, further events took place on the four festival stages: for children (with the participation of people like Agnieszka Antoniewicz, Romuald Pawlak and Andrzej Żak) and for adults (meetings and workshops with Nadia Szagdaj, Janina Ochojska, Monika Witkowska, Monika Kuszyńska, Mariusz Szczygieł, Jakub Ćwiek, Andrzej Pilipiuk, Tomasz Lipiński, Bogdan Białek, Remigiusz Mróz, Michał Olszański, Janusz Leon Wiśniewski, Szymon Hołownia, Krzysztof Varga, Katarzyna Bonda, Michał Rusinek and others).

“Thank you once again and see you next year! I hope that soon Opole will become not only the capital of Polish song, but also of literature – hopefully popular!” writes Katarzyna Bonda, an author of crime stories. Remigiusz Mróz adds: “A great atmosphere, an outdoor meeting in ideal weather with interesting conversations – the first book festival in my home town, Opole! Who missed it this year should definitely make up for it next time!”
